[Voyage-linux] strange slowness possibly related to read-write root

Just to let you know I found the cause for the slow boot after I got  
access to the serial console:

Due to the clock drift, I had installed "openntpd", and this package  
seems to be quite badly broken. Over the course of a boot, openntpd  
was started three times before my ppp connection was up, and each time  
it hung for ~6 minutes before aborting.
