[Voyage-linux] compiling the kernel

Hi all

Thanks for all your replies,

Darsha:

I've been trying to install voyage and voyage-sdk in my VirtualBox but
it fails at step 6 (copying files) to the harddrive. I had Vbox 2.0,
I've upgraded it to 3.02 but still the same problem with both fixed and
dynamic hard drives. Which version of Vbox and Voyage do you have ?

Jordi:

CHroot it's awesome because I can use the whole power of my machine to
compile the kernel in the set environment, I really like this method.
But!, I get the same initial problem, at the end of compilation process
I get the following error:

dpkg-gencontrol: error: package linux-image-2.6.26-486-voyage-486-voyage
not in control info
make[2]: ***
[debian/stamp/binary/linux-image-2.6.26-486-voyage-486-voyage] Error 255
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.26-voyage'
make[1]: ***
[debian/stamp/binary/pre-linux-image-2.6.26-486-voyage-486-voyage] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.26-voyage'
make: *** [kernel-image] Error 2
PC-Alvaro:/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.26-voyage#

I got the same error compiling the kernel on the voyage system installed
on the target machine (geode).

I'm using voyage-0.6.2 and voyage-sdk-0.6.2 and
linux-source-2.6.26-voyage.tar.bz2.

The only method I haven't tried yet is doing manually compilation and
copying of the kernel image and modules as suggested by Russell, my only
problem with this is that usually i get stuck creating a ramdisk and
fitting all things together. But I'm working on it now...

Any other suggestions ? maybe I'm missing a configuration somewhere,
what is that control info file ? I haven't found info about that.

Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks again...

Alvaro
