[Voyage-linux] understanding watchdog reset

Hello guys,
I use watchdog to keep an eye on a few things in our Voyage/Alix based
system. Tell me, when the watchdog has to reset the system, is this the same
as a power-cut? I'm trying to ascertain if regular watchdog resets are
likely to cause data corruption on the systems RW partition, or is this
un-mounted by the watchdog first?
Generally speaking the watchdog only picks up small errors, such as a daemon
having crashed, should I perhaps be using the -soft-boot flag on watchdog
instead? Will this cause a proper reboot power cycle which un-mounts the
partition before restarting?
Thanks,
Robert
