[Voyage-linux] dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:

I attempted an apt-get upgrade today on my Voyage/Alix installation as
I saw that there was an update o MPD.

The following error messages appeared even after I attempted to
install apt-utils:

The following NEW packages will be installed:
  apt-utils

Any way to recover from this?
