[Voyage-linux] Question about WLAN interface naming

Tried to install udev and it did not update anything.
if udev rules are taken out, where are the names for the interfaces stored.
The reason I ask is that for some reason this node (which has a wistron dnma
92 and a intersil NL2511MP plus) shows a wifi0 iface as well as a wlan0
iface bothe with the same specs (hwaddr, etc...). could that be because one
is a prism chipset and the other atheros?
