ok I have figure out a few more things .

when the scripts are run.

it syncs /usr/local/freeswitch/conf  to  /.sync/usr/local/freeswitch/conf

then it syncs /.sync/usr/local/freeswitch/conf  to 
/lib/init/rw/usr/local/freeswitch/conf

then it mounts /lib/init/rw/usr/local/freeswitch/conf to
/usr/local/freeswitch/conf

on a shutdown it does it in reverse.

so my thought is that the /etc/init.d/voyage-sync stop and start be
added to the voyage.update script in the properplaces allowing for the
needed dir to be cp when generating a install to a drive and a usb thumb
drive .
