Thanks for the prompt response Punky - I was already running with the format
line commented out. Have commented out the other lines below that as per
your suggestion but no luck, still does it. I am also running a NAS as my
library. MPD version is 0.16.0
If you skip around quickly selecting songs from the MPoD playlist it seems
unable to 'lock' on almost any song - you get the distorted play and have to
stop the song and restart it. It'll then pay the list but occasionally have
a problem on subsequent songs.
Rüdiger, are you referring to the DAC's firmware?
Thanks all
Derek

Hi Derek,
1. Remove the lines in /etc/mpd.conf about sampling/bit rate, like below,
and restart mpd by "/etc/init.d/mpd restart"
audio_output {
type "alsa"
name "My ALSA Device"
device "hw:0,0" # optional
# format "44100:16:2" # optional
# mixer_device "default" # optional
# mixer_control "PCM" # optional
# mixer_index "0" # optional
}
2. Do you also USB disk device for storing music files? If so, use network
drive instead (NFS/SAMBA).
3. What MPD version you are using?
Regards,
Punky

does not help. Stopping the song and pressing play again cures it.
