Hi Joseph
I am using a switching 5v 2A wall wart, it is plugged into a 7 port
USB Pluscom hub's power socket. I have plugged the USB to 5v jack cable
shipped with the Cubieboard into the hub, the jack end into the Cubieboard.
There is no other USB devices plugged into the hub.
The reason I had to do this was I could not find a 5v supply with the
correct size barrel diameter to fit the cubieboard! directly.
I checked again, and with my ears using headphones I cannot hear any PS
noise. There may be a bit more 5V filtering in the Pluscom hub, that
removes the noise? I haven't looked.
The other reason may be I cannot hear the HF noise with my hearing.
I will dig out my oscilloscope and look at the power supply noise on the
cubieboard and also the audio output. It may take a couple of days, I
have a number of jobs queued up, but I will post the results. with some
pics I hope.
I love the cubieboard, I have been using mpd for some years, I used to
use micro 386 PCs, (thin clients and the Cranberry SC20), with the
LX800 AMD Geode LX CPU, as is used in the Alix boards. I then tried
the Rasperry pi (ugh) and the Beaglebone black, which is my current
lounge set up.
I have yet to try the cubieboard, set up with NFS, to get files from my
home NAS, where all my music is stored normally.
regards
Patrick
