Wondershaper is basically another layer 7 shaper. It still requires bandwidth
limiting (not only am I /very/ short on bandwidth, but my actual
upload/download BW depends on the time of the day and activity of other ISP
customers), monitoring, tweaking, traffic categorizing and prioritizing,
etc. The beauty of BA is that it is a "set it and forget it" transparent
bridge and supposedly does a very nice job right out of the box with the
default settings. It is based on usage pattern as opposed to deep packet
inspection (see http://www.netequalizer.com/Compare_NetEqualizer.php here
).
NetEqualizer would not have sold 3 million devices worldwide at $1500 to
$6000 a pop if their product was not great. Their users are absolutely
raving about them. NetEq claims that they still use the exact same BA
algorithm, they only add bells and whistles with support, a GUI, reporting,
tweaking for particular needs, etc.
So I am still hell bent on BA. Besides I like the challenge of trying to
install it.
